Pontetorto is a company based in Montemurlo (Prato) that for half a century has been producing high-quality fabrics for clothing, mainly through its Fashion Division (wools and noble fibers mainly for ladies wear) and its Sportsystem Line (fleece fabrics for active wear and outdoor).
Daidoh Limited is a Japanese group listed in Tokyo with a turnover of more than Euro 250 million, mainly in production of men’s fabrics and clothing. Daidoh is also the owner of the «New Yorkers» brand that operates mainly in Japan and China.
Cross Border was chosen as exclusive advisor by the owners of Pontetorto thanks to its track record and know-how in the F&L sector. It assisted Pontetorto in the development of a market strategy and business plan and in the structuring of the transaction, managing the selection process of the best industrial partner to support the growth plan.
The deal is strategic for both companies to extend their presence through synergies, both in products and markets. Pontetorto will benefit from stronger financial resources and consolidate its presence in Asia, where it already has its own trade agents, through Daidoh’s production and sales channels; the Japanese Group will have the opportunity to increase penetration of the European market thanks to Pontetorto’s channels, integrating its fashion business with women’s fabrics.
